Where the Light Falls

by Chard Powers Smith (1965)

Smith's work is significant because of his insistence that Edwin was, throughout his adult life, in love with his brother Herman's wife Emma.

Smith met Robinson in 1924 when they were both residents of the MacDowell Colony in Petersborough, New Hampshire. Robinson was 55 at the time, and never admitted any story of the sort that Smith would later write about.

Perhaps the most interesting parts of Smith's book are the personal and poetic references that he uses to back up his theory. He goes through much of Robinson's poetry and makes connections that seem, at the very least, plausible.
